Car show update

Filed under: The Met — mayzaboo @ 9:48 pm

I have gotten quite a bit of the info from the car show recorded, but I just haven’t been able to get it all on here yet. I am working on it, and soon I will have a full update talking all about the car show, and a list of who won what! But for now, you can just take a look at some of the pictures that I’ve managed to get up on the gallery page!

I am slowly but surely getting the pictures up on the site of the car show. It’s ending up being quite the process, but I do have a few of them up- at least the digital ones are up (and have been for a while), and the pictures of the cars that won something in the show from my 3 roles of film!! That is why it has taken me so long to get them on here! Anyway, I’m also in the process of updating my car page, and putting some info about the show on that page. The rest of the pictures will hopefully be up soon!

I got the digital pics up on the site, so check those out! I also put 4 roles of film in to be developed, and they won’t be ready until Wed afternoon, so those will just have to wait!

The car show was yesterday, and it was so much fun! I got there around 8am, and didn’t leave the show until 5 pm, when we caravanned over to dinner. Man- that was a kick! Seeing so many Met’s all together like that was very cool. I came to find out I have the most popular color of Met. I was one of a BUNCH of turquiose or teal Met’s. I took a ton of pictures, but my digital camera died on me again, so I had to use the 35mm, and I’ll be taking the film in to be developed today some time. (So my Easter pics, and the rest of the pics from my Met’s trip down here will be done then, too!)

The car that one best in show was a VERY sweet looking 1930 Austin. I got some pics of that one. It was one cool car. The most unique of show was a 1914- and I can’t think of what it was called, but I think I took a picture of the placard that had the name of it, so when I get the pics back I’ll know what it is!

I learned quite a bit about my car while I was there, and made some good contacts of people who can help me fix up the problems that it has. It’s quite the little “hobby car”!

We made it!

Filed under: The Met — mayzaboo @ 9:50 pm

Well, the Met made the trek down from Cupertino all the way to Anaheim! We made quite a few stops on the way, but we did make it eventually! My dad and a friend of his followed me down in my dad’s car, and it’s a good thing, too! We started off from my house the morning of April 25th, made a quick stop at Starbucks, and we were on our way. When we got on the freeway, my dad wanted to check the speedometer, to make sure it was registering the right speed. Sure enough it was pretty close! Well, about an hour into our trip, the speedometer needle drops like a rock. Then I notice the odometer isn’t working either. Haven’t figured out what the problem is yet, but I checked for a loose connection, but couldn’t find one. Anyway, we continued on our way, but I had no way of telling how much gas I had left or how many miles I’d gone, so our first stop was a gas station a couple hours after we started out. We kept on going, and our next stop was lunch at Subway a couple hours later. We made another gas stop a couple of hours after that, and that’s when the second problem emerged. We filled the tank up, and then my dad’s friend noticed that there was gas dripping at a fairly steady pace out the back of the car. Not a good sign! It did eventually stop, so we’re guessing that the tank was overfilled, or there’s a small crack or something in the top of the tank. Yet another thing to get checked out! But she made it all the way down here in one piece, and now I just have to get her pretty for the car show! Today was spent washing her, and the rest of this week I’ll be cleaning every last inch inside and out. I’ll be sure to get some pictures of her once she’s beautiful! I did get some pictures of my trek, but some of them are on my other camera, and I need to get the film developed, then scan them in.

She made it!! My little Met made the trek, with a few minor set-backs. To read all about the adventure, click on my car page! I spent a good portion of today vacuuming the inside of the car, and washing the outside. I still need to do the windows, hubcaps, mirrors, trunk, and engine, but she looks pretty good so far! She’s almost ready for the car show on May 8th!

In other news, a friend of mine from work found a couple of abandoned kittens in her mother’s backyard the same day I drove the Met down here, and she didn’t know what to do with them, so I took on the challenge. Sadly, we lost one, who I named Midnight after her passing, but the little grey one, Stormy, is still very much alive! I started weening her off the bottle today, so we shall see how this week goes! I do have some pictures of the kittens, so check those out!
