The Arthur Murray Summer Showcase was last night, and I only entered 2 events- I got first in my cha cha, and I did my Hustle routine again. I will get the critique sheet from that on Wed when I meet with the judge. This will shock you all greatly, but I do have a few pictures up from Showcase already! They’re just the digital ones, but I do have some on my camera, but I haven’t finished the role yet. I also have managed to get all of Unique up, with the exception of the professional competition. I have about a role and a half of that to sift through, and then those pictures will be ready to be uploaded, too!
As for work, my hours have slowed down quite a bit. Last week was my last week of steady work, and this week has proved to be very slow- about 6 hours. And next week so far is empty, but this will only last for 7 weeks, so that won’t be too bad.
Well, enjoy the pictures, and I will add more soon!

Last night I saw the DCI Tour of Champions in San Diego. MAN it was cool! For those unfamiliar with DCI (as I was until last night) it’s Drum Corps International. There were 6 of the top corps all performing last night. The competition just ended Saturday and the top 5 corps, plus the number 8 corp were all there last night. The coolest part was at the end when all 6 groups’ brass sections came out on the field and played a couple tunes together. (See photo above) The sheer power of their combined sound was mind-blowing!! They even had 6 timpani players all playing at the same time. WOW! It was super cool. I would have to say that my favorite show was the one that won 1st place (The Cavaliers). It was to the music of James Bond, and in my opinion it was the best total package: music, cotuming, choreography, skill, technique. All of the different groups also did an encore number right after their show, and one in particular I found hysterical- The Cadets. It started off with I
believe a quintet of brass players, and they went through all sorts of styles and tunes. It’s hard to explain, but it was hysterical! They were fighting with each other, and it was a whole acting-type show. Funny funny!!
Here are the results from the competition (only of the groups I saw last night.)
In other news, I have recently gotten all the Marine World pictures from June up, and I am in the process of getting the Dance-O-Rama pictures up as well. Check back soon, and hopefully they will be up, as well as the pictures from Comic-Con!

It’s August already! I don’t believe it! The time has just flown by. I am still working in the Administrative Office for Magic Music Days, though it is going fairly slow here, with most schools being out of session. We do get occational calls, though, and have some time to organize the office and update the training materials before the next batch of trainees arrives. Looks like I’ll have about 7 weeks off this season, 1 of which is a week of paid vacation.
Speaking of a week of paid vacation- I’m heading to Kentucky to celebrate Emery’s first birthday Sept 8-14! His actual birthday is Sept 7, but we’re celebrating that weekend on the 11th. Maybe I’ll actually get the pictures from Unique Dance-O-Rama up before I leave! What a novel idea!
In other news, one of my friends is having a garage sale this weekend, and I get to sell me of my junk as well. My goal is to go through my entire house and get rid of anything I don’t need/use, and sell, sell, sell! Whatever isn’t sold is either going to the dump, The Goodwill, or a few select items will be sold on eBay. If they don’t make it there, off to The Goodwill they go! Yesterday I managed to clean out my entire garage, which was a HUGE project. Turns out I need more storage tubs, but now I actually have room for them, and my car still fits in there, too!
I have a day off on Monday, so I’m hoping to get some pictures scanned and uploaded for your viewing pleasure.
And as soon as I finish my role of film, I’ll have to get the Comic-Con pictures up on the site. I will be putting together a page about the Con soon, which will go along with some of the pictures, but will mostly be stories, so there are some things to look forward to!
In the mean time, I did get my “job page” updated, and changed the ages of the animals on the pets page, so you can check that out if you’re bored. ![]()
