35 Weeks… well, almost!

Filed under: Baby Berry, General — mayzaboo @ 12:23 am

Today we had an ultrasound to check on Jordan’s size, and according to the ultrasound tech, she is right on target for as far along as I am. She is estimated at 4 pounds, 14 ounces, so they are guessing if I go full term, she’ll be somewhere between 7-8 pounds. Sounds good to me! :) I just don’t want her to be upwards of 9 pounds, like I was. That would be a bit too much baby for me to give birth to! Of course, the doctor thought that I was smaller than 9 pounds before I was born, too, but hopefully they have better technology now that is a bit more accurate. :) It was a very quick appointment, so we didn’t get to watch her move around at all, but they did take all the measurements that I am sure I will hear all about when I have my next appointment on July 11! Yesterday our changing table came in, and our friend Richard was able to help Mike pick it up and bring it all the way up the stairs, and into the room, so now we just have to hang the fun things on the walls, and we will be done with her room! Yeah! I will get pictures up of the room as soon as we have the walls decorated. :) And speaking of pictures, we did get another ultrasound picture. It’s kind of hard to see, but you can kind of see her face. It’s almost easier to see it in the smaller versions of the picture. I’ll update this weekend hopefully with pictures of the room! Only 5 weeks to go until the due date! :o

Latest Dr.’s appointment

Filed under: Baby Berry, General — mayzaboo @ 8:48 pm

Some of you may know that I have had a Dicken’s of a time with doctors during this pregnancy. My regualr doctor before I got pregnant was in Glendale, which is way too far a drive from Anaheim when one is pregnant. So I got a recommendation of someone who was very close to my house, and went to him for the first about 12 weeks, or so. I really didn’t like him at all, so I asked friends for recommendations, and found a practice in Long Beach. Not exactly our backyard, but not as bad as Glendale, and if they were nicer/better doctors, then well worth it! So I picked a doctor in that practice (there were 4, 2 recommended specifically to me.) I tried to get an appointment with either of the 2 that my friend recommended, but they were booked, so I chose Dr. Agnelli. She was great, and helped me pick the hospital where I wanted to deliver. Then a couple appointments later, she informs me that they are no longer delivering babies at that hospital. *sigh* So I picked a different hospital, then at the next appointment, she informed me that she was switching practices to one that’s downstairs. So off to a different doctor- enter Dr. Silverman. She was even better than Agnelli- very patient, and kind, and ready to answer all my questions. Well, I was very excited about her being the one to deliver my baby, and she was one of the 2 that were originally recommended to me! At my last appointment, however, she informed me that she is moving to Connecticut- the next week. So now Silverman is gone, and they moved me on to Dr. Mackovic. She’s the head of the practice, and they assured me that she isn’t going anywhere. I had my first appointment with her today, and I really like her, too. Incredibly sweet, and wants to make sure you understand everything. She encourages you to ask questions, and the best part was when she did the dopler thing to hear Jordan’s heartbeat, she got all excited about it and was saying things like, “Isn’t just so special to hear that?”. She sounded like she was as excited as I was to hear the heartbeat. That was so neat. She’s been an OB for 25 years, and she got excited to hear my baby’s heartbeat. :) So I’m really looking forward to having her around, and I hope she’s the one that will deliver my baby. She said that everything is looking great with me, and the size of the baby and everything, and she also said that the baby’s head is down, so she’s “ready to go”. She hasn’t dropped yet, but she’s in the right possition. I just hope she doesn’t flip! She was “head-down” at the 4D ultrasound, too, so hopefully she is now too big to flip at the last minute. Also, I get to have another unltrasound on Thursday! Yeah! She wants to check the baby’s weight and make sure everything is progressing properly. So I will post again after that but won’t have any results really until my next appointment with Mackovic on July 11.

Update

Filed under: Baby Berry, General — mayzaboo @ 6:40 pm

Well, there isn’t a whole lot to write about currently, but I thought I would update anyway! I’ve had friends bugging me asking me to update more often, so it’s you’re own fault! ;) I haven’t been feeling too great the past few days, but I’m surviving. We’re down to 6 weeks until Jordan’s due date, and I really am hoping she comes early. Not early as in tomorrow, but early as in before August. I’d be happy with a late July birth. :) I feel like I’m getting larger by the second, and I probably am. My only consolation is that I’m still flexible enough to do my own pedicure! At 8 months pregnant, I count that as a large accomplishment!
We’ve been slowly getting through the junk that was in the baby’s room, and getting rid of it. I had Mike take down a HUGE bag of clothes to go to Goodwill. I figured the summer clothes that I used to have before I got pregnant are going to be old (and not to mention way too small) the next time I’m going to try to wear them, so why have them clogging up my closet? Plus I’ll skip the “I can’t believe I was ever small enough to fit in these shorts” problem. I’ll just buy new ones! :) And we’ve managed to get through all the boxes that once cluttered our hallway. Now the only thing in the hall is the large DVD collection that now fits out there instead of in the baby’s room! Well, that’s pretty much it from here!

Showers all around!

Filed under: Baby Berry, General — mayzaboo @ 11:49 pm

On Saturday my friends threw Mike and I a couple’s shower that was very much fun! My folks were able to come out for it, and Mike’s mom and sister Lisa were also able to come! We had a really good time hanging out with our friends and family. We played some fun games, too! They had a play-doh game where everyone had to make a baby out of play doh. It was pretty funny to see what people ended up doing. There was also a word scramble game of baby terms, and a pictionary game where one person had to draw baby items, or baby-related ideas, and the rest of the team had to guess it. There was lots of food as well! And the dessert tray- wow! The mini eclaires went like hot cakes! They were sooo yummy! All in all it was a very fun day. I was pretty tired when I got back home, though. I’m still not back to my “normal self”, and I doubt I will be until a little bit after the baby is born. But it was definitely nice to see family and friends again. I’m in the process of getting those pictures up, and they should be up and running by the end of the night.
While my folks were here this weekend, we also were able to get the crib (an early birth present from my parents) up, and all the bedding put in it- it looks sooo cute! I will have to get pictures. My mom has all the pics on her camera currently. We should be getting the changing table within a couple of weeks, and then we will be that much closer to having the room totally ready! (A little over 6 weeks to go until I’m due!!) So that’s the happenings here!

4D Ultrasound!

Filed under: Baby Berry, General — mayzaboo @ 4:37 pm

I just got back from the 4D Ultrasound, and yes, we are in fact having a baby girl!! Her name is Jordan Aleene. It was soooo cool to see her again, and to be able to see facial features, like her cheeks, and eyes and little nose! Man it was coolest ever!!! We got a CD ROM with the pictures they took, which are in fact on the gallery page, so you can check those out. Mike is going to figure out a way to get the video tape transfered on to the web as well, but that may take a bit longer. Anyway, it was such a neat experience to see the baby and get to see her open her mouth, see that she is in fact a girl, and see her darling chubby cheeks! She even kind of smiled and we got a shot or two of that. The pics that are in black and white are the regular ultrasound shots, but the amber ones are the 4D. It takes a second to get used to the 4D, because instead of looking at a negative, you’re looking at a possitive image. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

The pictures are already up, and we just got home an hour ago! How could this have happebned you ask? Well, for my birthday, my folks gave me a Kodak EasyShare Camera! And I actually remembered to bring it with me! :) So go ahead and check out the gallery page to see the fun!

Down for the count

Filed under: Baby Berry, General — mayzaboo @ 9:38 am

Yesterday I went to the doctor’s office to fill out paperwork for going out on disability/maternity leave early. Yup- I’m out until after the baby comes! Thankfully I’m not out on bedrest the whole time, just supposed to lay low and take it easy. I think I can handle that. Though being home does show me all the stuff that I have to do! This house is just a mess, and I can’t imagine bringing a baby home to the middle of it!! But it will all get done, or at least what doesn’t get done will just have to wait!
Mike and I are still planning on moving somewhere soon after the baby comes, but we still have no leads on jobs at all. It’s pretty frustrating, and we have decided that we may just have to move, find a temp company for Mike to work for, and a cheap 2-3 bedroom apartment, and then start looking for work once we get there. Then once we have a job, we can think about a house, and start the life that we would have started before having children, if we had a bit more warning! :)
As for baby stuff, I’m slowly trying to get baby’s room together, and we’ve been getting some fun presents from family and friends, so it’s starting to come together a bit. Now I have a larger pile of baby stuff in that room, along with piles of stuff that has to be moved out- somewhere… Not sure where, but somewhere else. Hopefully this will help us get organized and get rid of stuff! I have registered now at Target, too, in their baby department for a few things as well. (And that one can be accessed on-line at target.com then just click on the baby registry and search for us by name, or our registry number: 011003993477449)
If I can just get the strength up, I am hoping to get at least part of the baby’s room organized, or at least get some of the stuff out of the room that doesn’t belong in a baby’s room. Once I feel like I have gotten something accomplished, I will post pictures, but that could take a while!! Anyway, that’s about it from here! Only 8 weeks to go until my due date! (Though I have a sneaking suspicion that baby will be coming early…) We have our ultrasound on Thursday, so hopefully we will know a bit more for sure whether baby is actually a girl (which we think she is!) or a boy (big surprise to us!)! I’ll keep ya posted!
