12 Week old update!
I started this post yesterday, but never got a chance to finish it until today- so here it is- a day late!
Jordan is 12 weeks old today- where does the time go?
I drove to Long Beach this morning, and Jordan was weighed- She is 12 pounds, and 3 oz- right in the 50% percentile!
Yeah! I’ve been putting clothes away in the “too small” box the past couple of days. It’s kind of sad, but exciting to know that she’s growing so well. She’s almost completely out of anything “Newborn” sized. There are still a couple of onsies and pairs of pants that still fit, but she’s almost completely in 0-3 or 3 month clothes. She even has a few things in 3-6 that she can wear. They’re a bit big on her now, but she will be growing in to them quickly, I bet. Last night was “Pumpkin Carving Night”. One of our friends has an annual party to choose and carve pumpkins. We got some cute pictures at the pumpkin patch, however I don’t have any of the finished pumpkins yet. I’ll have to get them from the host of the party.
We’re heading to a costume party on Saturday that I’m sure will be much fun. I have to get my costume together, but Jordan has hers! I found out that we’re encouraged to wear costumes to Gymboree on Tuesday, too, so that will be fun. Not sure if I’m going to dress up, or just let Jordan dress up- we’ll see how my costume ends up looking.
I was going to be Spats (our cat) again, but the thought of wearing a leotard 12 weeks after giving birth is a bit scary, and I don’t like scary costumes! ![]()
I was reading in “What to Expect the First Year” today, and came up with the idea to write down what Jordan is doing these days!
At 12 weeks Jordan can:
- smile at us when we smile at her, or whenever she thinks something is funny.
- lift her head up 90 degrees when on her tummy, and push herself up on her hands, elevating her chest off the floor
- coo (make non-crying sounds. What I refer to as “happy baby noises”)
- sleep 7 hours at night in one stretch (When she wants to)
- put weight on her legs when held up (basically stand with lots of help)
- hold up her head without support
- keep her head steady when I sit her up by her hands.
- suck on her hands, sometimes a couple of fingers or her thumb, or all 3!
- grasp a rattle and shake it when it’s put in her hand (so far just her left hand)
- bring her hands together, and sometimes clasp them together
- almost laugh- more like a cough while smiling really big
- track an object 180 degrees from one side to the other
- turn her head to look at her rattle when I shake it out of her sightline
- turn her head following me as I walk around the room
- roll over from her tummy to her back, rolling on her left side
- roll to her side from her back (that’s how she likes to sleep, and again laying on the left side most of the time.)
There may be more accomplishments that I’m not remembering right now, but for now that’s her list! Some of the accomplishments may not seem like much, but compared to what she could do when we took her home from the hospital, it’s quite a change!
Now it’s Friday, and tomorrow is the big costume party which should be fun. I need to go make sure mine works! I haven’t tried all the pieces on together yet. It’s getting kind of late, and I’m pretty tired, so the uploading of photos will have to wait for another night. Oh- among accomplishments- today Jordan actually laughed when I showed her a toy at Babies R Us (which followed us home to make an appearance at Christmas!). It was a “heeheehee”- all 3 “hees”!! And it was adorable.
