Jordan slept 12 hours last night!!!!!!!!!!
Well, she was not really sleeping the whole time, because I did hear her squirming, and grunting a bit, but the 2 times I thought she was getting ready to cry, as soon as I got out of bed, she stopped! So she was in her room without any contact from us for 12 hours! And this morning I went in to get her at 8 when I heard her “talking” to her friends (the stuffed animals in her crib). She wakes up in such a good mood now- it is so sweet to come in and watch her playing with her Tigger, or whoever, and just stand there for a while until she sees me. Then this HUGE smile spreads across her face. It is the best!! Yesterday she also took a 2 hour nap without even fussing when she went to sleep!
I think I have finally broken the suck-to-sleep association, which helps. Well, I take that back- she still uses a pacifier, and her last feeding of the day she usually falls asleep, but wakes up when I put her down, and puts herself back to sleep. But now she can put the pacifier back in her mouth, too, so that is a huge help. Plus she can scoot around the crib to find the nearest pacifier. I keep at least one in each corner, since she is on the move so much these days.
In other news, we are looking for a rental here in OC somewhere. We need more space, and it would be nice for Mike to be closer to work, but we may not be able to afford much near his work. Long Beach seems to be kind of expensive, and if it is not expensive, you would not want to take a walk outside… not so much a good part of town. But we are looking around- Anaheim, Cerritos, Long Beach, Lakewood, Buena Park, even Corona! So far we have only found 1 property that would work, but it is in Corona- a bit far for Mike to drive to work. It is very hard to find a place that will take 3 cats, and has washer and dryer hookups, and a garage for under $1800 per month. *Sigh* But we are still looking. Tomorrow is going to be a search day in the Long Beach area for me. I think I am going to end up doing most of it on the phone since it is a bit of a drive, and I do not know that area very well. Well, Jordan is napping, so I had better get going so I can get something accomplished!

Well, the past two nights have been great as far as sleeping goes! Jordan slept a little over 10 1/2 hours the night before last, then last night I put her down around 7:30pm, I didn’t hear a peep from her until 5:15am, then I just gave her a pacifier, and she went right back to sleep, and didn’t wake up until 7:30am. A huge bonus is that I knew she was awake this morning because I heard playing coming from her crib- not crying! Whee!!!
We’ve been going along well with the rice cereal. She’s eating everything I give her which is nice, but I’m not sure if she would eat more. I’m just following what the box says to give them- 1/4-1/3 cup of the flakes to however much milk makes it the right consistancy. But anyway, she seems to really enjoy it. Last night after our “My Gym” experience we met up with Mike at Ruby’s, and I had packed the rice cereal and some expressed milk on ice just in case I wanted to try to feed her out, and she sat in the Ruby’s high chair (a VERY cute red and white high chair with a higher back than most) for almost our entire meal! I’m trying to get her used to being in the high chair for meal time so that we will have some prayer of having normal meals when she’s older! But she did great! She’s still stuffing her hands in her mouth along with the food, but hopefully she will stop that soon. Anyway, that’s the update from here!

Today we went to the Infant Massage Class Reunion! It was pretty cool to catch up with the other moms from the group, although out of the 6 of us that were in the class, only 3 showed up including myself! The reunion took place at My Gym in Long Beach, and well, the best way I can describe My Gym- It’s like Gymboree on crack. It was SOOOO loud, and there were SOOOOO many colors, and SOOOO many kids, and the teachers were SOOOO excited. I realize children/babies have a short attention span, but if your child wasn’t ADD when they went in to this place, they would be when they left!!! It was actually too much for even me! The music ranged from The Wiggles to Black Eyed Peas- no kidding. And there was a mother there with a baby and about a 3-4 year old, and she was paying attention to the baby… so the 3/4 year old was running rampant. He jumped into the ball pit when Jordan and Jacob were in there, and jacob almost got a fist on the head, and Jordan almost got a foot in the head. Vannessa (Jacob’s mom) and I scooped out kidos out of the pit asap so they wouldn’t get flattened by this very rambunctious child. He was totally crazy- running around and everything. The next oldest child was MAYBE 12 months, and all the others were between 5-9 months. Yeah, so it was nuts. I didn’t stay for the whole thing, but I did manage to snap a couple cute photos. Today we went to our first Baby Signs class and it was all about meal time. She doesn’t quite understand yet since her first meal that wasn’t milk was last night, but we’re starting with it! We learned the signs for cereal, milk, drink, bib, eat, all done, and more! I’m also starting to use signs for bath, cat, no, gentle, and anything else I can think of as we go throughout our day. We taught all the signs to Daddy tonight, so she gets it from all sides. I’ll keep you updated as we continue this long process! Also we did another rice cereal feeding tonight. She can’t seem to keep her hands out of her mouth when I’m feeding her. Grr. So we end up with cereal everywhere, but she does seem to enjoy the whole feeding time. I think she thinks it’s a game, though. At least she doesn’t scream! We’ll be starting on barley or oat cereal next Thursday to see how she does with that. So that’s the news today!

Okay, so I just realized that I never posted the my brother’s baby was born!!! She was born on Jauary 13, 2007 at 6:06am. She weighed 8lbs, 6 oz! (2 lbs heavier than Jordan at birth), and was a whopping 20 3/4 inches long!! That’s HUGE for this family! She has tons of dark brown hair, and her name is Mallory Aleene! I haven’t gotten those pics up yet either, but you can see her on my brother’s site!

Today we signed up for the Baby Signs class at Gymboree that starts tomorrow! Eek! It kind of snuck up on us. Tonight we also started her on solids! She had her first meal of rice cereal, and I think she liked it!!

At first I made it really thin, but it was hard to keep on the spoon, so I thickened it up, and she took to it like a duck to water! It tuckered her out, though. She ended up falling asleep in the feeding seat during our dinner! Poor thing. She went to bed early tonight (7:15pm) and we shall see how she sleeps! But the fun has begun! I’ll be sure to update about the baby signs class!
In other Jordan news, she has begun to babble a lot more, and now says “Ah-da-da-da!” She doesn’t associate it with anyone, but I’m sure she’ll learn that soon enough! She already starts to raise her arms up when she wants to be picked up, so I thought this would be a good time to start the baby sign language class. She’ll be going in for her 6 month check up soon, possibly next week, or the week after, and we’ll also have to get her 6 month portrait taken. Lots of craziness! And I have about a bazillion photos to upload, but I will have to wait on that. Maybe I’ll work on that tonight, but I really want to start on a scrapbook of Jordan’s 8×10 portraits, and I want to go to bed early so I might get some sleep! Jordan’s back to her waking up pattern of every 3-4 hours. But maybe the cereal will help- who knows! I’ve heard mixed reviews! Well, that’s all for now!

I haven’t posted in a while, but just wanted to say we are in fact back! I’ll be updating the photos when I get a chance. I still have 2 suitcases that need to be emptied. We’re getting ready to start Jordan on solids soon, and here’s a newsflash- she has slept in her crib for 10 hours straight the past 2 nights, and has finally gotten on a 3 hour feeding schedule!! She’s not crawling yet, but is rather proficiant at scooting. She can only go in circles or backwards so far, but that’s ok. I set up the pack n play today in the livingroom. One of the books I read said to start them playing in a playyard before they can crawl, so they don’t think it’s punishment when they can crawl and you need to keep them in one spot. Anyway, I will post more later. The laundry is calling my name!
