Our little super star

Filed under: Baby Signs, General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 12:07 am

I couldn’t resist buying these sunglasses. This is the 3rd pair I’ve purchased for her, but the only pair that fits currently. We had fun on Saturday having her wear them to Gymboree class. :) ‘Twas quite fun. There are a bunch of pictures up of that as well. :) Mike had fun with the camera. Jordan is finally feeling much better after having a stomach flu, and seems to be getting better from her ear infection, although she has gotten extremely clingy, and all she wants to do is walk around the house in my arms, or nurse. She’s becoming quite the pro at standing up on her on in her crib- last night I went in every 3 hours to lay her back down. Every time I went in she was standing at the rail, not sure how to get down. Crazy little one! I haven’t updated in a while, but we did go to Baby Signs last week and learned the pet signs: cat, dog, turtle, fish, bird, and bunny. I swear Jordan’s trying to say “Cat”. She says “Cah!” after I say and sign cat when we’re playing with the cats, and when we went the the pet store last thursday, she reached her hand out toward a dog and said “Cah!” and I said, “No, that’s a dog”. She replied with “Dah”. Now she says Dah all the time now- Dada, dah dah dah, just Dah, whatever, so that could have been a total fluke, and probably was, but it was weird! Today when she was sitting by the rabbit cage, and Boo came up to the side where we were, she reached out and said “Cah” again, and I said no, that’s a bunny, and she clamped her little mouth and looked like she was conentrating really hard, but didn’t end up saying anything. It makes me think that she thinks every furry critter is a cat. Well, we do have 3 of them, so I can see where she would get that idea! :) Anyway, she’s asleep right now, and I would like to get the landry finished before I have to go in there again, so off I go!

Jordan’s first celebrity crush

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 11:14 pm

I do believe my 6 month old daughter has a crush on a celeb… The lucky recipient? Corbin Bleu

We have been watching Disney channel in the afternoons a bit, and she has recently showed an interest in the music videos. At first I thought she liked all the music videos regardless of who was singing, but during the past couple of days, she has shown a decided interest in Corbin specifically. Every time his song “Push it to the limit” comes on (from his new Disney channel movie Jump In) she stops whatever she’s doing and watches. Feeding? She stops and turns her head for the entire music video and when it’s over, she turns back and continues eating. Playing? Same thing- nothing else is as important as watching Corbin sing and dance. When I noticed her watching so intently at first I thought she just liked music, but when the Jonas Brothers song came on, she actually turned away! And the funny thing is, she’s not just enamoured with the song by Corbin. If he’s on talking about something (i.e. a community service commercial), she watches that, too. It’s hysterical! He was even being interviewed in the middle of a bunch of other people from High School Musical, and she picked his interview out to watch, then ignored the rest! Methinks she has a crush! :) How cute!
In other news, we finally took her 6 month portrait today. They turned out very cute, and I ended up buying a whole bunch of them. I couldn’t resist, but we got a majorly good deal, though. They let me combine a whole bunch of offers, so I ended up getting a bunch free, no sitting fee, and got a $111 package for less than $70! Whee! Unfortunatly when we returned from the sitting, Jordan felt very warm to me, so I took her temp, and it was 102.3! Her normal temp is around 100ish, so this was definatly high for her. I gave her Tylenol and it went down to 101.7 before I put her to bed, but we are going to go back to the doctor tomorrow just to make sure her ear infection isn’t getting worse. She finished the meds on Thursday of last week, but yesterday she was pulling at her ear. So we shall see what the doctor says tomorrow. Oh- and there are more pics up on the gallery!

Gymboree Update

Filed under: Baby Signs, General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 11:49 pm

Today we experienced Saturday Gymboree. There are a lot more dads there, since most of them are off work. It’s pretty cool. So anyway, she is loving Level 2 gym. Lots of fun and activity! She was in a fussy mood this morning, but as soon as we got to Gymboree, she was all smiles. And she fell asleep on her way home. With the ear of her giraffe in her mouth.

Such a cutie if I do say so myself!
On Friday we went to Baby Signs class and learned getting dressed signs: Hat, comb, jacket, socks, shoes, and diaper. We missed the bath time signs the week we were sick, but we’re going to make up class next week after the next class. Jordan seems to sort of undertand the sign for eat, or maybe it’s the word, but when I sign it and say it to her, she smiles. But then again, she smiles at just about everything! I really want her to catch on to “all done”. Right now her cue that she’s done eating is squirming/crying and flailing her arms. Not my favorite way to end a meal.
Well, that’s pretty much what’s happening around here. Oh- and in the sleep department- Jordan slept 9 hours straight last night, and I slept 6 of those hours- without waking up! Now that’s a record for me! She went to bed early tonight since she didn’t nap too well, and I would rather go to bed early tonight, and wake up early with her rested than deal with a cranky baby all night who really just wants to sleep! Hopefully she will be rested enough to be in a good mood for church tomorrow! And Mike suggested that we all go on a picnic tomorrow afternoon! How fun would that be?!?! I’m quite excited!

Valentine’s Day, take 2!

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 1:03 am

Well, I still didn’t get great pics of Jordan today in her cute outfit, but this was the best I could do! She was quite interested in chasing the cat, or trying to scoot away. I think it will become harder and harder to get pictures of her. *Sigh* Speaking of which, now that she’s well, it’s time to try and get her 6 month portrait done! If I don’t get it done soon, she’ll be 7 months! Eek!
Today we went to Gymboree and tried Level 2! We are staying in level 2 now, because it was sooooo much fun! It’s a lot more active, and Jordan really liked the interaction with the other children. There are some close to 9 month old kids in there that are crawling, and Jordan just loved it when they would crawl up to her and touch her. Plus she loved the games that we played in class. Another bonus is that they have class 3 times a week! We can go on Saturday as well as Tuesday and Thursday. So while the Baby Signs class is going on, we’ll have an opportunity to go to Gymboree Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday! Whew! I doubt we’ll go all those days, but it does give us a nice option. Other interesting tidbits- Today Jordan took 2 longer naps! She slept in her crib from 10:15-12pm, and then after Gymboree she slept from 3:30-5:30! And she went down for bed around 8, played by herself in her crib, and started to kind of fuss, but not cry then there was silence! Hooray! I’m hoping she is starting to feel better. Today was her last day of antibotic, so I’m really hoping the ear infection is gone. We go back to the doctor on 2/27 for a recheck.
In my world, I’m still working on a present for my new niece that I’ve been making since I was pregnant with Jordan. I can’t say what it is, because this blog is read by her parents! But I’m getting closer to the end, slowly but surely! I’m also trying to put together a scrapbook/binder thing for Jordan with just Gymboree stuff. When I went to Gymboree in Kentucky, they had these binders to put all the handouts in, and it had a place for pictures, and teachers names and stuff like that, so I’m making my own binder for Jordan with all the handouts, and I’m hoping to put some pictures and fun things in it as well. I may try to take some pictures of it once it looks like something. Unfortunatly my paper tray for my photo printer has been MIA since my return from Kentucky, so I have been unable to print any pictures. I think I may just have to bite the bullet and purchase another one. I have no clue where it went. It is either somewhere in this house, or my grandmother’s house, but this is getting rediculous. I have a bunch of pictures I want to send to my grandmother, too, but I can’t print them without the tray! (She doesn’t have internet access or a computer, so she can’t check out the gallery) Well, I’d better go- Jordan’s still sleeping, so I should head to bed myself!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 12:32 am

*Insert cute photo of Jordan in her Valentine outfit here*
Well, we didn’t get very good pictures of Jordan today in her cute new Valentiney shirt, so you’ll just have to imagine how cute she looked! :) We are finally feeling better, at least Jordan and I… Mike seems to be getting a little bit sicker. :( We did go to Gymboree yesterday- it was good to finally get out of the house again! We are also going to try Level 2 tomorrow! There are 2 other babies very close to her age at Gymboree, and we’ve all been waiting to try out the new level together, so tomorrow’s the day! We shall see how we like it! I really think Jordan’s ready for that class- she’s been sitting well since Christmas, and is quite proficient at scooting/creeping/rolling, so I think she will be fine. She can also pull herself up fairly well, and that’s the milestone for level 3!! Eeek! Still no teeth, but she’s been biting everything in sight the past couple of days, so that may not be too far off. Today for V-day Mike and I were going to go out for dinner to the Cheesecake Factory, but they weren’t taking reservations, so we thought we’d go for early dinner at 5… evidently so did everyone else! The wait to ask how long the wait was was 10 minutes!! And the wait for a table was 55-70 min!! Eeek! So instead we picked up Papa John’s on the way home and ate in front of the TV watching Dr. Phil. I never watch that show, but was intrigued today, and we watched the first 20 minutes or so, but then popped in Monday’s “How I Met Your Mother” (That’s practically the only way I can get a full tv show watched) on DVD, then made it a “double feature” and watched Heroes as well! I like how some of the networks are putting their shows up on their websites for download. For us who don’t have Tivo, it’s a nice option! :) Well, the little one is asleep for now, and I’m exhausted, so I think I’ll hit the sack and see if I can at least get an hour of sleep before Jordan needs me again! :) I will leave you with some cute pics taken yesterday:

More meds

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 12:49 am

Well, I went to the doctor today, and found out I have a double ear infection! Yuck. I thought my ears were feeling weird. So now I’m on antibiotic for that twice a day, Jordan’s on antibiotic once a day, and Zantac twice a day, and Spats is on medicine twice a day! Whew!! As for the cold part of my sickness, I can’t take anything for it because I’m still nursing. Joy. So my head will continue to feel like it’s going to explode until this sickness decides to leave me. Though I do feel some better tonight. I was allowed to take Robitussin, so maybe tonight I will actually sleep if my nose decides to unplug enough so I can breathe. I’m thinking Gymboree probably won’t happen tomorrow, but we shall see. Maybe I will magically feel better enough to go. I think Jordan’s well enough, it’s just me now! Well, I’m off to bed before Jordan wakes up!!

Still sick…

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 7:49 pm

Well, the sickness continues! Mike also came down with it and was home sick Thursday as well! He was beter, but I was worse on Friday, so he stayed home that day, too so I could get a nap. Jordan seems to be some better, but I can’t seem to shake it, and now I’m wondering if I have an ear infection, too! I’m going to try to find a new doctor to see hopefully on Monday to make sure everything is okay. It’s just really got me good, and I can’t exactly get extra rest right now! I know what you’re thinking- “Don’t you know that Moms aren’t allowed to get sick?” Evidently not.
While we’ve been in, we did manage to watch the entire first season of “How I Met Your Mother” on DVD, and then Mike managed to find the current season on-line, so we are now caught up to the latest episode. My sister in Law got me hooked on that show over Christmas. In addition to that, we’ve been watching other random DVDs, and I’ve played a little bit of a video game I got for Christmas, too!
We had to skip out on Gymboree on Thursday, and we missed Baby Signs on Friday, and missed church today. Hopefully we’ll be better for Gymboree on Thursday, if we can’t make it Tuesday. (I’m guessing we won’t.) Yesterday we went on our first outing since her doctor’s appointment- a trip to the vet for Spats, our 3 1/2 year old cat. He had been yakking-up all over the carpet, so I thought we should get it checked out. After an x-ray, and a couple of shots, he was sent home with us with some bland food to try for a few days, and a medicine to give him every 12 hours. Giving medicine to a cat is not the most fun thing I’ve ever done, let me tell you! He seems to be some better today, but is boycotting the new food, and instead is trying to get anywhere he isn’t supposed to be to get my attention. So if I’m not chasing a cat off the kitchen counters and table, or telling him to stop clawing at our bedroom door, I’m trying to comfort Jordan who is crying more since she doesn’t feel good, and in my spare time I’m blowing my nose and trying to get my ears to open! The fun never ends! Well, I’d better get back to it- little one needs me again!

Sick Day

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 2:34 pm

Well, after a crazy day yesterday, we’re both home sick. :( We seem to have caught some kind of cold between yesterday and this morning. Yesterday we went to Gymboree, and then a quick trip to Target before heading to the pediatrician. Jordan is in the 75th percentile for both weight and height, and the doctor seemed very pleased! I asked if she was possibly getting a little too chubby, and she said no, since her weight and height are even! :) Yeah! She basically said keep on doing what I’m doing! She now weighs 17 lbs, 1 3/4 oz. and is 26 3/4 inches long. Whee! Unfortunatly she has another ear infection as well! Poor thing. So she got 4 more shots, had to have her ears cleaned out cuz they are soooo waxy, has an ear infection, and has now come down with a cold. She had a slight fever this morning, so I’ve been giving her Tylenol, in addition to her antibiotics, and oh yeah- we’re back on Zantac! :S The doctor thought that it might help her gas/not sleeping issues to get back on the Zantac, so we’re giving that a whirl. I told the doctor about the nights that she actually slept through the night, and she thinks that the ear infection brought on the lack of sleeping, possibly in conjunction with the gas issues. She also said that I probably need to start being more of a “call the doctor at the drop of a hat” kind of mom. Jordan is such a happy baby that when she’s fussy I just take it to be “normal baby fussiness”, but the doctor said that Jordan doesn’t seem to be much of a complainer, so if I think she’s being slightly more fussy than normal, I should probably bring her in. Especially since she’s had 2 ear infections in the past 3 months.
In other news I got to have lunch with my buddies from work on Monday, which was very much fun! I got a couple of pictures of a friend’s baby with Jordan- very cute. I’ll have to upload those at some point, but not now. Jordan’s actually taking a nap, and has been for about 2 hours so far, and I don’t know how long that will last! Plus I’m not feeling well myself, so I’m going to crash on the couch for the remainder of her nap! :)

PS- I don’t think I mentioned this before, but Jordan can now pull herself up to a standing position from sitting, and occationally from laying down. I’ve caught her standing holding on to her jumper (not playing in her jumper, but on the floor next to it), and she’s been almost standing in her crib when I came in after a nap! (This started Tuesday 1/30)

Guess who’s 6 months?!?!

Filed under: Baby Signs, General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 9:07 pm

I can’t believe it but the calendar says it’s true! Jordan is 6 months old today!! she is growing so fast I wish I could capture each moment and remember it forever! She is scooting quite well, though she is still going backwards or in circles. Very cute, but it frustrates her no end! Poor thing. I’m none too anxious for her to crawl, because we are still looking for a new place that would be better than where we are now. We either need a storage unit, or another room. I’m hoping for another room, but we shall see. There isn’t a whole lot to report from here- oh we did go to Baby Signs yesterday, and learned 6 more signs. The theme was bedtime, so we learned moon, stars, book, sleep, light, and love. So here are some pics of the cutie at 6 months!
