The Purge Continues!

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 12:00 am

Today I rearranged Jordan’s room! I moved the large bookcase into the hallway (yes, it now lives in the hall…next to the DVD racks…when you have a 2 bedroom place and 3 people, you have to get creative). I moved Jordan’s bookcase to the other side of her crib, I moved the pull-out couch into the corner, and made a spot by the window for my glider and arranged some toys in Jordan’s bassinet. I also did some “moving around” in the living room. The rabbit is no longer in the corner, she’s in front of the fireplace (I know that sounds weird, but we don’t use the fireplace, and it’s not a “traditional fireplace”) and I got a shelf-type-thing for Jordan’s toys and put it in the corner. I’m still getting rid of stuff, and I think my next large project is going to be organizing ALL the scrapbook stuff including all the “scraps”. I hate it that I have no scrapbook with my husband in it, so I would like to make a book of our life together, and then continue into Jordan’s life, too! The last book I have has ex-boyfriends strewn through it, and I don’t like that being the most recent thing I have.
In Jordan news, she managed to get a sort-of black eye by falling down while trying to stand on her own. She also now has a bruise above her eye and a scratch all the way from the corner of her mouth to the middle of her cheek. I promise I’m not beating her! She’s just so mobile now it’s hard to keep her safe! Which is part of the fuel behind my major cleaning. I took some pictures of her today, which of course I haven’t uploaded yet- maybe I can work on that this weekend. In sleeping news, she only woke up twice last night, and has been asleep since 7pm so far tonight. She had a really bad night Monday night, and I had a very difficult Tuesday. I hit the end of my rope that day, but things seem to be a lot better now. She may be teething, so that could be part of the problem. Of course I’ve wondered that since she was 4 months old… :) But I’m glad she doesn’t have teeth yet. It would hurt if she bit me with teeth. She likes to chew on my fingers now, and I guess I should have her stop that since it will hurt once she has teeth. Well, I am very tired, so I’m going to head to bed before Mike gets home (he’s working late tonight.).

Cleaning frenzy!

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 11:52 pm

Today after waking up at 2am with a sire throat. I was determined not to get sick or I guess sick-er. I consumed 3 24oz bottles of water, 3 8 oz glasses of various juices, and I took Airborne last night before bed all in the hopes to knock out this sickness. Plus I started taking my vitamins again. Hopefully I’m not jinxing it by saying that the sore throat is gone tonight. It went away this morning after breakfast, and hasn’t re-surfaced yet. We shall see how tonight goes, though.
Jordan’s naps weren’t so great today, and she’s already awakened once since I put her down for bed. We shall see how it goes. Maybe I need to re-read some of the tips in that book.
Most of today I spent cleaning. I’ve had the “purge” bug ever since I went to my parents house and my mom showed me the episode of Oprah that Peter Walsh from Clean Sweep was a guest. I really want to simplify our lives, and get rid of the extra clutter. So today I tackled my closet. I now have a HUGE bag of clothes to go to Goodwill, and another trashbag full of random things, and a smaller grocery sack with a few other items. I now have space in my closet for some of my scrapbooking things. I can actually have them somewhat organized and readily accesible so I can pull them out and do a page here and there when Jordan gives me the time! :D And I can actually see my clothes now. Before I couldn’t hardly move the hangers on the rod. And I didn’t feel good in hardly any of the clothes. I’ve also started walking with Jordan every day around the neighborhood, which gives me a workout, and makes me feel better about myself. Depending on how much time I have, I may join a gym that has daycare, so I can try to lose the last 15 stubborn baby pounds. My goal was to be back to my prepregnancy weight by Jordan’s first b-day, which seems to inch closer and closer by the second!
I feel so much better about myself since I got my closet clean, plus I uncovered some pre-baby clothes that actually fit now, so I can toss out the old Target t-shirts that are now a size too big. I don’t feel good about myself in sloppy clothes, or in a messy house, so I’m clearing out the sloppy clothes and cleaning the house at the same time! :) We shall see how much longer I can keep this up, but hopefully my “purging bug” won’t leave until I’ve purged the whole house and garage! Then we will see exactly how much space we really need! So that’s the news of the day! I’m off to bed before Jordan wakes up for a second time!

Day 2…so far so good…

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 10:53 pm

I’ve been keeping with the plan laid out in the book now for 2 days. We’re still having napping troubles, though yesterday she did get an hour and a half nap! I was shocked. Today, though the naps have been closer to 45 min. She’s acting tired so early that I’ve been putting her down around 6pm. Last night she woke at 10 to eat, then woke again around 12:45 and fussed on and off for a bit, and to be honest, I turned off the moniter because I was so exhausted, and if she were screaming, I could hear her through the wall. I fell back asleep, then I woke up about a half hour later, turned on the moniter again, and she was silent. I didn’t hear her until 6am, and then I fed her in our bed, and she fell back asleep until 7. Tonight she went down again at 6- she was acting tired from 4:30pm, but I didn’t want her to nap then, since I knew she wouldn’t go down at a normal time. Plus it doesn’t seem to matter if I put her down at 10pm, 8pm, or 6pm, she will still wake up at 6am or 7am. But the coolest part of the past 2 days has been that I’ve put her in her crib very drowsy, but not quite asleep, and she hasn’t had anything in her mouth to fall asleep, AND there has been no crying when she’s being put down to bed! Now, I don’t anticipate this to continue, but for now I’m LOVING it! So on April 2 I’m due to make another sleep log and see what’s working and what’s not working. I just somehow think that as soon as we have a good thing going, she’ll decide to cut some teeth. :S Oh well. I think I’m going to head to bed early again tonight to see if I can get some sleep before little bits wakes up again. She’s been asleep for 3 hours so far, plus my throat is starting to hurt a bit, which worries me, because Mike’s been battling strep throat all this week! He’s been off work since Wednesday. I need to get as much rest as possible, and I really hope that Jordan doesn’t catch strep!!

Major sleep issues…

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 11:41 pm

Well, I picked today to do my sleep logs they suggest doing in the book I’m reading, and Jordan picked today to be extra hard to get to bed. She took 3 naps, but none longer than 50 min. Then it took me an hour and 15 min to get her to bed. I’ve adopted a routine since the last time I read the book (December) that I’ve been fairly faithful with, though I’ve cut out the bath some nights due to exhaustion- either mine or hers, but tonight she would have no part of sleeping without crying. :( I would rock her, nurse her, get her really drowsy, put her in the crib, and as soon as I left the room, she’d scream. Then I’d pick her up, calm her down, rock her, then she’d start to squirm and cry in my arms, so I’d lay her down, she’d stand up and scream at the crib rails. Every nap today she fell asleep on her own without me doing anything, but tonight from the time she woke up from her 3rd nap, she cried/was fussy, and wouldn’t even eat any solids. Okay I take that back- she had 2 freeze-dried apple pieces, and some puffs. She just refused the Stage One peas, or anything else on a spoon. Anyway, she’s finally asleep, and has been for 2 hours- hooray! But who knows when she will wake up, or how many times… *sigh* I really hope this book works. Last night she woke up 3 times, but the night before it was 5. I’m okay with 1-2 times a night, but I really need my sleep! It’s frustrating, but I hope this book works. I never got to finish up with it last time, because we ended up going on vacation.
If you’ve checked out our gallery recently you have seen the “tease”- I do plan on uploading the pictures soon- just haven’t gotten around to it, and right now sleeping sounds like a better idea. :) So I’ll do it at some point. I promise! :)

Back to the books

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 10:18 pm

Well, I think it’s time for me to re-read The No-Cry Sleep Solution again… Last night Jordan was up 5 times and would only be consoled by food. I thought she may be going through a growth spurt, but I don’t think they are supposed to last 2 weeks. She’s eating every 2-3 1/2 hours throughout the day- AND NIGHT! Plus she’s eating solids, too! I’m also having trouble getting her to nap, so I guess it’s back to the drawing board. I’ve been doing pretty well with a sleep routine, and I can get her to sleep with no trouble- and sometimes she’s even putting herself to sleep in her crib, though most of the time I feed her into a stooper. But she’s only staying asleep 6 hours max, and usually closer to 2-3 hours. Mama needs her sleep! Today she took a 2 hour nap from 4-6pm on my lap, so she didn’t want to go to bed tonight. In fact I hear her playing right now. But she’s not making any noise other than the toys rustling, so maybe there’s hope.
She’s also having feeding issues. Not nursing issues, just solids. She’ll eat maybe a 3rd of a jar of baby food, a few puffs, and then she’s crying and whipping her head from side to side. She tried peas for the first time tonight, and I must say that this is the first food I have given her that I haven’t tasted first. The smell was enough for me. I am not a fan of the peas. Jordan however didn’t even make a face, and opened her mouth for quite a few bites. I’m really wondering though if I should start her on the chunkier foods. She’s not really liking this liquidy food. I guess I have to read my food book, too! She seems to like the idea of finger foods, and will even grab the spoon out of my hand and feed herself, though sloppily. I’m thinking that if I cooked some carrots to be really soft and cut them up in tiny pieces that she would eat that up! But now I have a cupboard full for Gerber 2nd foods that she doesn’t really eat well, except for the sweet potatoes. Who knows. Judging from her thighs and wrists, she is not lacking for food! :) I love my fat baby! Maybe I can get some of the pictures uploaded soon- there are some really cute ones that I’ve taken lately, but I haven’t been able to get them on the site yet. Well, the playing is over- she’s crying for me now. *sigh* And the night begins…

No more ear infection!

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 12:24 am

We went to the doctor today, and Jordan’s ear infection is gone! Yippee!! But the doctor said she did see some congestion in her right ear, so she is to take Dimatap every night until her next well-baby check (9 mo). So now she’s on 2 meds- Zantac still for the tummy, and Dimatap for her ears. Hopefully this will help keep her healthy, though. She was weighed today- 18 lbs! I’m not sure how long she is, but she’s still looking very chunky. :) I love her little chubs! And now that it’s getting warmer here, I can put her in lighter clothing, and little sundresses that show off her thunder thighs! :) So cute!
Today we went to the mall to wander around, and we went in the pet store about 3 times. :) It makes her so happy to see the puppies, I kept going back. She seemed to gravitate toward one puppy more than the others- it was a Cavalier/pekenise mix- SOO cute! I’ve always loved Cavaliers, and that mix was too cute! There was also a really cute yorkie. Mike likes yorkies ever since we “doggie sat” for a friend of mine who had a toy yorkie. That was one of the smallest dogs I had ever seen, but sooo cute.
I also made Jordan’s 7 month portrait appointment for tomorrow. Nevermind that she’s 7 1/2 months old, and I still haven’t mailed out the 6 month portraits… Seems like I can never keep up! I’m also starting to work on the Gymboree binder/scrapbook I’m making. I’ve printed out some pictures, but haven’t gotten any further than that. But hey, it’s a start! :) Well, Jordan’s been asleep since 7:30, so I’d better get ready for bed before she decides that it’s time for yet another meal…

Slacking here, busy elsewhere!

Filed under: Baby Signs, General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 3:54 pm

I’m totally slacking on updating on the computer. I have tons of photos to upload to the gallery, and Jordan has been doing so much! She has learned to wave, she’s a pro at pulling herself up to stand, she can crawl forward at a semi-rapid pace, she’s now eating rice, barley, and oatmeal cereals, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, pears, bananas, pear juice, and those little Gerber puffs. She’s had sweet potato ones, cherry ones, and banana ones. She really seems to like those, and I think she’d rather be eating finger foods instead of baby food. I’m using the stage 2 foods now, because the stage one foods are so liquid. I think she’d actually be okay with chunks now, even though she has no teeth. Anyway, she also can sign “light”, and might be signing milk as well. Another new thing that’s not so great is she has become extremely clingy. I can’t do hardly anything without her, and lately she’s wanted me to be inside her little gated area all the time. :S It doesn’t let me get anything done, and I’ve been having dinner around 8 because I can’t do anything away from her, and I won’t cook with her in my arms or in a carrier on me. She’s been going to bed anywhere from 6:30 to 8pm, but is now waking up at least twice a night, and the only thing that will calm her is feeding her. She’s acting like she’s starving even though she’s been known to eat a jar of carrots or sweet potatoes, and a bowl of cereal at dinner, and she hasn’t cut back on nursing even though she’s eating 2 solid food meals a day. So much for “babies sleep through the night after eating solids”. So that’s the happenings around here. Well, she’s crying again, even though she can see me, and I’m only 3 feet away! More later!

Quick Update!

Filed under: Baby Signs, General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 1:04 am

Jordan and I are leaving tomorrow for a road trip! We’re heading to Northern California to visit my parents, and watch them compete in a dance competition! Should be a lot of fun. We shall see how Jordan does in the car for such a long time… My hope is that she will sleep, or play instead of scream. :) I uploaded some more pictures to the gallery tonight- just a few from yesterday (Thirtieth week). If you’re wondering why I’m still counting the weeks- it’s easier for me to keep track for a photo project I’m working on. I’m planning on putting something together of the pictures taken of Jordan every week for her first year. Some scrapbook-y thing, but I haven’t decided yet. Anyway- I’ll be in Cupertino until Wednesday, so any of you who read this blog from up there, feel free to give me a call. My parents still have the same number and my cell hasn’t changed either. I’ll be at the dance competition all day Sunday, and I’ll be arriving some time tomorrow(Saturday) afternoon/night.
One thing I wanted to post before I forgot- Jordan started crawling forward yesterday at Gymboree! She went about 3 feet towards a tambourine. :) It wasn’t exactly creeping, since her belly was off the floor, and it wasn’t exactly crawling, cuz it wasn’t horribly coordinated, but it was forward motion nonetheless!
Today was the last day of baby signs class, so we shall see how that goes. So far she seems very interested when I’m signing to her, and she almost did the sign for frog the other day! I’ll keep you posted!
(Okay, so this wasn’t as “quick” as I thought it would be- sorry!)
