T-I Double “Guh” Er!

Filed under: Baby Signs, General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 12:38 am

Jordan has spoken a new word today: “Tigger!” She said it while I was in the shower and she was playing with bath toys on the floor. I wasn’t sure I heard her correctly, so I asked what she said, and she looked at me and said very clearly “Tigger”. So after getting dressed, I took her into her bedroom to see the Tiggers in her bed to see what she would do. As we approached the crib, she pointed in the direction of the 3 Tiggers (yes, she has 3 Tiggers in her bed- she has more in her room, too! ) and said “Tigger”. I took her shopping today and we brought along her mini Tigger, and she said Tigger throughout the day. So cute! She also can say “Duck”, but she says it all the time, and not really in connection with ducks. Oh yeah- and she learned how to sign frog today as well. :) So her signs are: Light, Milk, Frog, Bye bye (waving), and clapping. And her words are: Mama, Dada, Cat, Dog, All Done, Tickle, Tigger, and Duck. The past couple of days I’ve tried to get better at doing the signs with her, so hopefully that will help with her learning more new signs.
On our shopping trip I bought her her first pair of shoes for walking. She had a pair of sandals that my parents gave her, but they were more for “cuteness”, and she has now outgrown them. I had a coupon for Stride Rite so we headed over there to be measured, and to see the new line of shoes. Turns out she’s a size 3 to 3 1/2, so they suggested a size 4, and it has to be a wide, since her foot is so fat. :) So I got her a pair of white sandals. They didn’t have any other colors, but they do have butterflies on them, and they should last her through her first birthday at the least. Her feet have grown slowly so far, and they are basically 6-9 month size in length, they’re just fat! :)
In other news, my ankle is slowly healing- I’m off the crutches, but still wearing the gel cast during the day, though I’ve been taking it off at night while I’m home to move it around so it doesn’t get stiff. I’m still going to lay off working out until next week probably. My parents came down for my birthday weekend, and that was a blast. Jordan greatly enjoyed having her grandparents around, and Mike and I did too!! I’ll upload the pics soon. It’s been tough because I’ve been busy getting presents ready that I can’t talk about. :) My parent’s anniversary is June 1, Mike’s birthday is June 4, and Father’s Day is coming up too!! I got a lot of cool stuff for my birthday, including Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova for the PS2. I’ve been able to play it a little bit, but not too much, due to my ankle. Well, that’s about all that’s been going on here. I’ll try to get the pictures up from this past weekend soon!

Never a dull moment!

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 10:28 am

Well, yesterday we had a very exciting afternoon… I was coming down the stairs holding Jordan strapped in to her car seat, and tripped, turning my ankle which caused me to fall. I tried to sit down and hold the car seat in my lap, but I lost control of it, and Jordan went tumbling down the stairs, still strapped in to her car seat- thank heaven!! Well, I ran down the rest of the stairs that I hadn’t fallen down, and Mike was also at the bottom of the stairs, and we got Jordan out of the seat. She was crying really hard, but once I sat down on the stairs with her, she seemed fine. We of course called the doctor who just said to treat it like a head injury, and watch her, make sure nothing weird happens with her. She was fine all day yesterday, and we’re supposed to watch her today as well, but since it didn’t look like any of her hit anything during the tumble, I think she’s fine! Thank you, Lord!! The handle was up on the seat, which actually acted as a roll bar, so her head never hit, even though she went upside down. Once we were sure she was okay, I looked at my ankle, which looked normal, not much swelling, not discolored, or anything like that, so I thought maybe it was just a twist. We decided to go ahead and go to Gymboree (That’s where we were headed before the fall.) and then went out to lunch, and shopping at Target. Well, I guess my ankle was pretty mad at me that I had done that, even though when I came back home I propped it up and iced it. Mike went out to Costco, but I had to call him back to come take me to the doctor when I suddenly couldn’t put any weight on my foot at all. So off to the doctors we went, and I have sprained the heck out of my ankle. So now I’m on crutches for at least 2 days, and in an air cast for as long as it takes to heal. Mike had to take today off because it’s very difficult to carry a baby when you’re on crutches. Oh, and my parents are arriving tonight some time to help celebrate my birthday tomorrow! For those who are keeping track, I was in the hospital last year my birthday weekend, and this year I get to spend it on crutches! Whee! I guess one of these years we’ll get it figured out. Thankfully I did get to celebrate my birthday at Disneyland on Wednesday with Mike and Jordan, so that was very much fun. I’ll post pictures later!

Swimming and Disneyland and Bears! Oh My!

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 1:41 pm

I have finally caught up with the pictures! I have had a hard time doing anything with pictures lately, as my stupid photo software randomly decides to crash my computer! I am currently downloading the new software and that will hopefully help, if not fix the problem! There are TONS of new photos up on the site, and we have been busy with so much! All the pictures from her 41st week of life are up on the gallery, and that was a very busy week! We went to Gymboree and a party last Saturday, and she swam for the first time. She LOVED swimming, and now that I finally have a key to the pool here at our complex, I can take her swimming whenever! We also went to Disneyland for Mother’s Day. A very fun trip! She met Koda, a bear from Brother Bear, and then “Koda’s best friend” Yumi *wink wink* came out to visit with us and we rode a ride with her. So much has been going on, but I will let the pictures do the talking! :)

40 Weeks

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 11:44 pm

Jordan is 40 weeks old today. She has now been “out” as long as she was “in”! 40 weeks ago this is what “life” looked like:

And this is what life looks like today:

I must say I enjoy the 40th week of Jordan’s life out here MUCH better than the 40th week of my pregnancy, or really any of my pregnancy! :) She is continuing to amaze me with all the things she is learning. Here’s her latest “trick”:

And this is her new expression when she’s very happy about something:

She’s a pro at peek-a-boo now, and I can’t keep her from going underneath the parachute at Gymboree. She just loves to be under blankets, or any piece of cloth she can pick up. She has so much personality emerging! It’s just amazing to see the little independent person she is becoming.
Anyway, I’m tired, but I did upload more pics to the gallery. More later!

Fixed the comment issue!

I had begun to wonder why no comments had come through on any of my recent posts, and have been notified that some of my settings were messed up! I have fixed the issue, so hopefully everyone will be able to comment now whether they have a WordPress account or not! :)

Silly girl

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 8:48 pm

Yesterday I left my little sweater on the floor after playing with Jordan, and walked away to organize some things on my desk. What I saw when I came back was this:

Then I left her again after taking the sweater off of her, and found this:

She is such a silly girl! Lately she’s been showing an interest in helping to get herself dressed and undressed, so I guess she was showing off yesterday. :)
In other news, 2 days ago she said “Tickle” after being tickled by us in the morning. Mike and I looked at each other in surprise, but she ended up saying it a few times, and has said it a few times since. :) So her “words” are now “Cat”, “Dog”, “Dada”, “All Done”, and “Tickle”. She has said Mama a bit lately, but not in reference to me in any way.
I decided to do something about my lack of exercise program/feeling “blah” about the way I look by joining Curves again. I joined before we got married, but quit while I was pregnant, and now I need it more than ever! My first work out was this morning, and wow… it was tough! I am so out of shape it’s disgusting! But hopefully now I’ll be able to drop the last few pounds before Jordan’s first birthday. (I’m letting myself keep an extra 5 on while I’m still breastfeeding, though) That’s about all the info from here!

9 Months Old

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 12:39 am

Jordan turned 9 months old yesterday. I can’t believe how quickly she’s growing up! Her teeth are still slowly making their way through her gums, and they don’t seem to be giving her as much trouble, so that is a blessing. I had a million things I kept thinking “I need to blog about that”, and now that I have the time, I can’t seem to remember what they were! I do remember one thing- Jordan did something cute at dinner, but first let me tell you that Jordan has been playing a lot with her shape sorter she got for Christmas. She loves “putting” things right now, so that is a perfect toy. Anyway, we played a lot with it today, and yesterday as well. Okay- back to dinner. I had some shells and cheese (Gerber Graduates food) for her, and some green bean mush. I gave her a shell, and she sucked the cheese off, and spit out the shell. Then I put another one on the spoon, but she grabbed it off the spoon, put it in her mouth, again sucked the cheese off, and took it out of her mouth, but kept it in her hand. She then reached for the bowl, so I brought it a little closer to her to see what she would do. She put the shell back in the bowl! It was so funny to watch. I guess that was her way of saying she didn’t want anymore. :) Funny girl.
So yesterday we went to the doctor for her 9 month check up, and she now weighs 18 lbs, 9 oz, so she hasn’t gained all that much weight. She’s gained 1 lb, 7 oz since her 6 month appointment, and is in the 50th percentile. She also grew an inch since 6 months, and is now 27 1/4 inches long, and again, in the 50th percentile. Her head circumference is also in the 50th percentile. So basically we have a very average baby! The doctor was pleased with her growth and with her motor skills. She thinks Jordan should be sleeping all the way through the night without waking up, but oh well. I’m okay with her waking up 1-2 times, so that’s all that matters! :) Her ears were clear this time- hooray!! Oh, and she is now off Zantac! Her tummy seems to be just fine without it, so hopefully we won’t have a recurrence of the reflux.
I can’t think of any of the other things I was going to blog about, so I guess it’s bedtime! I’ll try to post some pictures this weekend, but my photo software is on the fritz right now, so I’m having some issues.

Finally broken through!

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 11:35 am

Well, Jordan’s teeth finally broke through yesterday, and surprisingly enough one of the bottom teeth came through in addition to the top 2! So she has the beginnings of 3 teeth! All at once! Poor thing… Yesterday was a bit rough due to that, but not too bad. She was in a good mood, just a bit more clingy than she has been lately. I can’t remember if I wrote on here that she learned to clap last Wednesday (4/25), and started saying “All Done” on Thursday when she’s done eating. (It’s more “Ah dah”, but hey, that’s close enough!) She doesn’t say it every time, but most of the time she does! :) So lots going on in Jordan’s little world! We went to Disneyland on Saturday to meet up with my college friend Ruth, and silly me didn’t get any pictures of Ruth and me, or any pictures of Ruth with Jordan. The only pics I took were Jordan by herself, and some of the group Ruth was with doing a Hoe-down (or however you spell it!) in Frontierland. It was a fun trip, and Jordan was a champ. We got to ride Peter Pan, and Jordan really enjoyed the swing dancing at Plaza Gardens at the end of the day. All in all, it was a very fun trip, and I’m sure Jordan and I will be going back there soon! I broke down and got an annual pass so we can go whenever we want now. :) I have a bunch of pictures to upload, but that will have to wait for now. I’m in the process of backing up all my info on DVDs because I just got a new computer, so I have to save everything so I can transfer it to the new system. Unfortunately my old system is slow, and doesn’t seem to want me to back everything up. Grrr. I’m about ready to just trash the info that won’t save, and do it again later (it’s mostly music). Well, I’d better go get a shower while Jordan is napping!
