Signing Explosion!

Filed under: Baby Signs, General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 4:54 pm

Jordan now has quite a repertoire of signs! She has been signing “milk”, “light”, and “frog” for quite a while, but recently she has added “bunny”, “all done”, “eat”, and she can kind of do “duck” and “bubbles”. She understands the sign and word for bath, and gives a HUGE smile when she sees/hears it. She uses the sign for bunny around Boo all the time. She’s also pointing at everything to try to get her needs met. She can’t tell me with words what she wants to eat, but she will point to it. Thankfully the pointing is not accompanied by whining… yet. She has also stood alone for a few seconds at a time, and sort of taken a couple of steps while falling towards the ground. She’ll try to balance, then get somewhere else, and she can take maybe 2-3 steps before landing on the floor. I think she’ll be walking before her first birthday, though I’m not really encouraging her walking. We play chasing games while crawling, and I will get on the floor and crawl around with her at least a couple times a day. She doesn’t tend to try to walk much while at Gymboree, even though most of the other babies there are walking, and some are even running. One of the moms told me that within 4 weeks of switching to level 3, her son started walking. This is the beginning of the 4th week, and so far so good. I want her to get to 11 months at least before she’s walking, but I guess I can’t stop her if she’s ready! Oh, and another random tidbit- she imitated a monkey last night. It was hysterical, because she got her mouth in the smallest little circle I’ve ever seen while opening her mouth inside as big as it would go and saying “oo oo oo”. I’ll have to try and get a picture of it, if not video. Oh, and she was playing with monkeys at the time. :) I haven’t taken pictures in a little while, so sorry I don’t have anything else to share. :)

Happy Father’s Day!

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 12:31 am

Yesterday we were supposed to have the baby dedication at church, but it was canceled. We went anyway, and Jordan was a champ. We have a very long service, so it’s always hard to know how she’s going to do. She lasted through the first part of the service sitting in the pew in between us, playing with toys, and sipping water from her cup. Then she smiled at everyone during the fellowship time, and lasted through a few minutes of the message, then got hungry, so I left with her, fed her, and went over to the nursery to let her play on the floor for a bit. We only have 1 other baby at church, so the nursery usually isn’t open, or manned, so if we go over there, I have to stay with her. Of course, I have no idea how she would do if I did leave. She’d probably be okay if there were other kids, but not too sure how she’d be by herself. Anyway, after church we came back home, let Jordan nap, and then went out for dinner to Fridays. I got some pics from that, so here are a couple of them.

I also uploaded some more photos from last week, so check out the gallery! I am in the middle of reorganizing all the pics, so if you’re looking for the older pics of Jordan, check out the 2006 album. So far all the 2007 pics are still under Jordan’s album.

Not much happening.

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 5:14 pm

I haven’t updated in a while, mainly because there’s not much to report. Things are still going great, there have been no new words or signs for a little bit, no more teeth (yeah!), and thankfully no more rolling down the stairs! We did get a call from a lady at our church letting us know that they will be doing baby dedications this Sunday, and they wanted to know if we could make it. I had asked a while back about it since Mike and I wanted to do that, but we hadn’t heard anything, so I kind of gave up on the idea. I guess the other baby (yes, there’s only one, and he’s about 13/14 months by now) can make it on Sunday, so that’s what we’ll be doing! :)
Jordan seems to be enjoying level 3 Gymboree, though I do have to really keep an eye on her, mainly because the other children are so much bigger and more mobile, she occasionally gets trampled! Or toys thrown at her, or hit, or pushed, etc. There is one child in particular that has hit her on the head a couple times with toys, or thrown toys at her on purpose. Unfortunately this child’s mother doesn’t seem to want to be “within a hugs reach” of her child (as they are asked to be by the teachers), so I have to be right on top of Jordan when this child is in class. The other kids don’t mean to run her down, it’s just they don’t look at the floor when they are walking/running, and Jordan’s on the floor crawling by, so we have created a few tripping/kicking experiences. We did enjoy Wednesday Gym this week, so that has become our main class, even though it’s during her nap time. She’s been really good about napping lately, which has been great for me! She naps about 2 hours at a time, sometimes more, 2 times a day! And at night, it could be anything from 6 hours straight without waking, to awake every 2 hours wanting to eat. Actually that was just for 2 nights, so it may have been a growth spurt. The past 2 nights she has only awakened 1-2 times. That I can handle! :)
Yesterday we met up with a friend from Gymboree at the park, and Jordan actually stood on her own for about 5 seconds. This was right before she decided to climb up the front of her stroller. She made it all the way up to the tray on her hands and knees before I removed her, and sat her inside. I guess she wanted to go for a walk! We have been doing a lot of walking lately. A little bit each day. Sometimes she’s awake for it, and other times she’s sleeping, but it’s doing 2 things for me- getting me some exercise, and getting me a bit of a tan! :) I did start back at Curves this week- first time back since the sprained ankle. It hasn’t bothered me, so I guess I’m healed! Yeah!
Starting in July I’ll be watching a friend’s baby on Mondays with Jordan. Should be fun! It will certainly keep me on my toes! The mom’s a school teacher, and goes back in August part time, so we’re starting in July to get everyone used to the idea. Jordan and Zoe (the girl I’ll be watching) are only 4 1/2 months apart, so very soon they will seem like the same age. It’s just right now Jordan’s cruising, and Zoe’s sitting up, but in a few months Zoe will probably be crawling. Of course, by then Jordan might be walking- who knows!
Well, I feel like I’ve written so much, yet not said much of importance. Oh well. I’m enjoying my afternoon while Jordan’s sleeping in her swing. She was getting kind of mellow, so I put her in there for a bit, and she fell asleep! She hasn’t napped in her swing in a long time. I’ll be sad when she’s too big for it. I think we’ll have a little while, though, because it holds kids up to 25 pounds, and according to our home scale Jordan is 18 pounds. Of course it is a bit off from the Curves scale. At Curves I weigh about 2 pounds heavier than I do at home. No fair. But Jordan was 18.5 according to the home scale at 9 months when she weighed in just above 18 1/2, as I recall. Guess we’ll find out at her one year appointment in August! I can’t believe she’ll be a year in less than 2 months! Crazy!

Mike’s Birthday and Gymboree

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 11:52 pm

Mike’s birthday was yesterday, and he had to work, but after work we had a mini-party. Just Jordan, me, and a few gifts, then dinner at Wood Ranch. It was fun! And the food at Wood Ranch was GOOD! Every Saturday when go to Gymboree, we walk by Wood Ranch and smell the BBQ, and man it smells good, so Mike decided that’s where he wanted to go for birthday dinner. It was a fun time! Here are some highlights!

I think he likes it!

Jordan is now in Level 3 at Gymboree, we moved up on Monday. Now I have 5 days to chose from! They have classes Mon-Thursday and on Sat, too! Crazy! We went yesterday and today, and I think Jordan likes it better than level 2, even though she’s the “little fish”. Almost all the other kids are walking/running, but she can crawl faster than them, so I think she may stick with that for a while (I hope!). Anyhoo, here’s her last day of Level 2 Gymboree:

I took pics today at Level 3 Gymboree, but I haven’t gotten them off the camera yet. Those will have to wait until later! :)
