Rainy Days

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 12:56 am

It’s been raining here this week, and when I took Jordan to her Gymboree class on Tuesday in her raincoat I realized she really needed a new one. Her sleeves came down to her elbows, and that’s it. I can get away with 3/4 sleeves in other shirts, but not in a raincoat. So the next day we went off to the mall, and found a very cute coat on sale (since it was “out of season”. Can someone explain to me why everything that is “in season” in February is bathing suits and shorts/tank tops?) and I of course had to buy the boots to match. Both are large on her, so I’m guessing they will last until next winter. Her other coat lasted her a year as well. So here she is leaving the house on Friday in her new coat and boots, complete with her Tigger purse.

I also uploaded some other random pics of Valentine’s day (none of them turned out very well), and some of Spats and Boo snuggling.

Jordan-isms

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 11:53 pm

It’s been a while since I’ve written down some of the cute things Jordan is doing, so I thought I’d take some time tonight to do so. :) Tonight we took a walk around the neighborhood, because Jordan was really itching to get outside. She’s been in the house since Wednesday, so it was nice to get out a bit. We walked around the block the long way, and she didn’t want to take the stroller, so we just walked along the sidewalk hand in hand. That was such a cool thing to do. I kept thinking about how blessed I am to be able to take a walk hand in hand with my little girl. My very own little girl! It was very fun. She pointed at, and itentified every puppy, airplane, car, and bird we saw. She also kept pointing in the sky and saying “moon”. I told her that it was day time, and the moon wouldn’t be out until it got darker, but then I realized that you could see the moon. A small crescent moon- what I’ve always called a “Cheshire Cat moon”. So she’s pointing up at the sky saying “moon”, and then looks at me and says “Get it?” I asked her what she said, and she said again “Get it? Have it?” with her arms outstretched, fingers grasping at the air. Melt my heart! My daughter wants the moon! And let me tell you, I would have given it to her, if I could!
She’s getting really good at little “manners” right now, too. For instance when I give her something (her juice cup, her dinner, a snack, a toy, etc.) she says “Thank you”(tankoo) without prompting! it doesn’t happen every time, but it sure happens a lot! And whenever someone sneezes, she says “Bessoo!” Of course some times she says “thank you” after that since that’s what I say when she “blesses me”. She also is getting better at saying “please”(peez), but that one isn’t quite as good as the others. When she really wants something that she doesn’t think she’ll get she’ll say “peez tankoo peez tankoo”, and sign them at the same time. It’s very cute. She’s also singing more songs now. She’ll still sing rock a bye baby, and row row row your boat, and itsy bitsy spider on occasion, but now has added “twinkle twinkle” or “tinkle sar” as she calls it, and tonight she was trying to sing along to the ABC’s. What was funny was that she requested Twinkle Twinkle right after the ABC’s. I think she recognized that it’s the same tune. She also sings “slippery fish”, “I have a little bicycle”, “tick tock”, and makes a valiant effort at “The Wheels on the bus”. She’s better at the “Gymbo Dance” (same tune as wheels, but different words) which is how they end every class at Gymboree. She understands just about everything I say now, and is getting somewhat better about following directions. She knows what a circle is, and we’re currently working on square. She can say square, but doesn’t associate it with the shape yet. She does know stars and hearts, though.
She still really likes Corbin Bleu, and slowly is trying to say “Corbin Bleu” together. Usually it’s just “Bleu” which she says when she hears or sees him. She has quite a dance to go along with the song “Push it to the limit”, too. Oh- and she sings along. “Push it Push it limit Limit *gibberish*” I have yet to get it on video. Her new favorite artist is Hannah Montana, and she can identify her songs, and face as well. She gets a bit confused with Miley, since Hannah is blonde, and Miley is brunette, though. Can you tell we watch entirely too much Disney channel? We actually have gotten better about it lately, and have limited the tv time a bit more, and Jordan will even sometimes request the tv to be turned off. “Teebee off?” She’s getting more vocal by the day, if that’s possible. She’s also showing her little strong will a bit more each day. We are ever quickly approaching that magic age of “2″. We’ve also been doing some pre-potty training. She now tells me after (and sometime while) she’s filled her diaper, and is interested in the “big girl pants” (pull up diapers) very much so. The only problem with those is that they are a bit too big for her, as she’s still in size 3 diapers. She knows how to pull the diapers up, and needs a little bit of help getting them off, but she does really well. She’s been sitting on the potty chair almost once a day without her diaper on, too! She can almost dress herself now as well. She can get a t-shirt on, as long as it’s not very tight, and she can put on and take off elastic waist pants. Today she even got her own shirt off before her bath! And she can put on her own socks, but still needs a bit of help with her shoes. Some shoes she can put on by herself, but her tennies and boots she needs help with. It’s really crazy how much she’s growing up! I have a few pictures from last Sunday to upload (Jordan and Daddy watching the super bowl), and a couple from today (us being silly on the couch taking pictures of ourselves), so maybe I’ll get those up tonight or tomorrow. Oh- and Jordan seems to be feeling better, but we’re still having some “messy diaper issues” yesterday and today. Mike went to the doctor today after having a fever of 103 according to our thermometer here, and got some antibiotics for a throat/sinus infection. Hopefully Jordan and I can stay away from catching that one! Eek!
*Edit* I got the pics uploaded, and here’s a sneak peek:

More Sick.

Filed under: General, Jordan Aleene — mayzaboo @ 1:02 am

Sorry for the lack of posts, but it has been an eventful week! I started off the week on Sunday with a fresh start- wanting to get the house in order, and taking some ideas from my friend Veronica on how to get the housework done in a week, while still having time for fun with Jordan, and maybe some “me-time” as well! Jordan and I attended church on Sunday, and Jordan stayed in the nursery for the second time. The first time was at my brother and sister in law’s church in Ky, but this was the first time at a church we’ve been thinking about attending here. She was a champ! She started playing with all the toys, and was having a grand time, so I snuck out and went to church. The workers said that she was a bit weepy when the other moms were dropping their kiddos off, because she thought it was me coming back, but once the door stopped opening, she was fine. When I went in to pick her up, she didn’t want to leave, and had to be carried to me by the nursery worker! Monday I got up early, and dove into the housework before Jordan woke up, and I got so much accomplished before 11 when I had a hair appointment. I dropped Jordan off at Lori and Tyler’s house (Friends from Gymboree), and then went to get my hair done. I decided to dye my hair again, as I was itching for something new, and I really don’t want to cut my hair again, since I’m trying to grow it out! So now it’s a “brown-red”. It’s darker than before, and in the sun you can really see the red, but it’s subtle, so I don’t look like Ronald McDonald, or anything. :) We spent the rest of Monday at Tyler’s house playing, then Tuesday started off at the mall where we had Jordan’s 18 month portraits taken. They turned out really cute. Then on Wednesday we had a preview scheduled at The Little Gym (Gymboree’s competition) for a “competitor study” I had to do for work. Wednesday morning I went in to get Jordan, and her entire bed, hair, feet, pajamas, blanket, and stuffed dog were covered in throw-up. Evidentially she had gotten sick in the night, but didn’t wake me up. So straight to the tub went Jordan, and straight to the washer went all the bed linens and her clothes. She seemed fine that day, and ate breakfast without a problem, so I figured that her dinner hadn’t agreed with her, and she was fine. I was wrong. We went to our preview (which we really didn’t enjoy), then to Gymboree so she could actually play for a bit, then went back home, and she took a 3 1/2 hour nap. That night I fed her dinner, and about half way through she started throwing up again! So back to the tub, and MORE laundry! Poor thing. We called the doctor who told us the stomach flu is going around, and to not give her anything for a while, then to just offer clear liquids. She threw up again in her bed at 10pm, so again we changed the bed linens, but by this time she was done with baths, so she got a wipe-bath, fresh pj’s, and new sheets. We got her settled down again, and Thursday went much better. We stayed home Friday as well, and that’s when Jordan started having problems with “the other end”, which caused even more laundry. I’ll leave it at that. I worked today, and Mike stayed home with her. He has now come down with a respiratory thing- had a fever tonight, sore throat, coughing, head ache, etc. So the two sick-ees stayed here while I worked, and are now both in bed. I’m washing my hands every two minutes, and hoping I don’t catch anything from them, or any of the kids I come in contact with at work. We won’t be going to church tomorrow as Jordan is still recovering from her sickness, and I don’t want to leave her with Mike since he’s sick now, too. Maybe this next week I can get myself organized and actually do the housework on the days I thought would work! We shall see!
