Lots of changes!
After a week of being home basically the whole time, both Jordan and I are feeling better. I’m still congested, but not nearly as bad as I was. We took advantage of the “home time” and did a few changes around the house. We had gone to IKEA on Father’s Day and bought a new desk chair for me, and a toddler table and chairs for Jordan. I went to Home Depot (with Jordan) and we picked out a paint color (Sorbet- think light girly pink) and so far I’ve only primed the table and chairs. I still have to find time to get the real paint on them. Jordan LOVES her new “big girl” table, and will actually sit there for about an hour while watching a movie or having a snack, or a meal. It’s so cute! In other “big girl” news she has stayed dry for 3 days, including naps and nighttime. She dirtied her pants yesterday, but as soon as she had she came up to me and said “Potty in pants. Oops. Sorry! Go bafroom?” So I told her it was okay, and we went to go clean her up. Most days she has only had 1 accident, some days 2, but generally that’s it. When she wakes up in the morning I usually hear “Mommy! Get out? Go potty!” which causes me to run in thinking she’s wet the bed, but she’s been dry most mornings, and is just requesting to go potty, not telling me she already went. She’s been in cloth training pants from when she wakes up in the morning until she goes to bed at night (including naps), then I put her in a disposable pull-up diaper at night. She also now sits in Booster chairs at restaurants, and has sat just in a regular swivel chair at McDonald’s, or in the booth. She’s becoming quite the little girl!
This past Sunday we went back to IKEA and picked up new (and some-what matching) desks for Mike and me, and to Target for a matching printer cart/file cabinet, and a large 2 door cabinet. I wanted a smaller desk so I didn’t have so much flat space to pile clutter, and Mike wanted a larger desk so her could have his school books and such easily accessible. I’ve given up on the idea of having a dining room right now, and am resigned to the fact that we do need an “office space”, so we took the plunge. All day Sunday Mike and I were building furniture, and Monday I went to Target and bought all the little organizational stuff I needed to complete the project. I now have no place on my desk to put “clutter”, and instead have a large cabinet with doors that close to put all the “stuff” so I don’t have to look at it. Strangely enough even though we have more pieces of furniture, we seem to have MUCH more room. We also took down the baby gate that blocked off the office as Jordan understands that some things are off limits to her. If we have friends over we can always block it off again easily enough. There are still a few things that I need to find homes for, and once that happens, and Mike takes apart his old desk and takes it to the garage, I’ll get pictures of the new office space. I think it will help a lot with our sanity, and might even encourage me to have friends over!
This morning I tackled Jordan’s room. I’ve been wondering how on earth we could possibly fit a twin sized bed in Jordan’s room when we decide to switch her, and I think I’ve figured it out! I moved around the sofa-bed to where the changing table used to be, moved the changing table (minus the changing pad since we don’t wear diapers anymore) to under the window to be used as a chest of drawers until I figure out what dresser I want for her big girl room, moved the crib into the corner, and put the toy box at the foot of the crib. I think there’s enough width for the twin bed to be in that corner, and the length should be okay. That’s the wall I used to have the sofa bed on pre-baby. I’m getting quite excited about Jordan’s new “big girl” room, but it’s also weird to think that she’s not really a baby anymore! I’ll take pictures of the new arrangement when she gets up from her nap!
