Maren cutting up Jordan’s meatball.
Today I took Jordan to the doctor for a sick visit. I won’t give too many details- suffice it to say she has been having “difficulties” in the bathroom for about 3 weeks, and after crying yesterday while in the bathroom, I decided to seek professional help. We are now on 2 types of medicine, one for that issue, and one for an infection around the same area. She will take one nightly before bed, and the other is a cream that I am to cover her _entire_ “diaper” area with 3 times daily. Whee! But despite her issues, she has been in wonderful spirits!
Here are a couple of “Jordan-isms from today. We were driving toward the freeway, and a large truck passed by on the overpass, and Jordan got very excited and pointed yelling “Scossco!! Scossco!”. It was a Costco truck, and yes, my baby recognizes the logo. Then today at the Dr.’s office we saw a new Doctor this time. Her name is Dr. Brown, but Jordan renamed her “Chris Brown” and yes, it’s because of the hip hop/R&B singer by the same name. He was on Sesame Street a couple days ago, and I guess he made an impact. We were driving to go have lunch with Mike after the appointment, and she said “Chris Brown scared me, but just a little bit.” She’s mentioned things scaring her recently, which concerns me a bit- I’m not sure where this came from, but I’ve been trying to encourage her by recognizing her feelings, but letting her know that even though she may feel scared at times, she’s safe, and God will keep her safe. Hopefully it’s just an “I’m almost 2″ phase.
Another silly thing she said while driving by Leisure World:
“Woa, that’s a really big ball!” And it came in the middle of another conversation. I don’t remember what we were talking about, but she stopped talking about that as soon as she saw the globe.
On July 5 we went to Christopher’s birthday party. It was quite fun. We got to swim (2 days in a row!) which Jordan LOVED.
She also enjoyed playing with PlayDoh with Merrigan.
And she even got to help Christopher open a present.
I also got to relax in the hot tub with Merrigan while Jordan swam in the pool with Daddy.
On the 4th we went to a pool party/BBQ that was put on by our condo association. It was quite fun, and we couldn’t seem to get Jordan to want to do anything other than be in the “Kool” as she called it. (Pool) Here she is “swimming”

Today I took Jordan for her first haircut at a “kid-friendly” haircut place (Rainbow Kid’s Hairstyling). I had been talking about it for a few days because her hair has become somewhat unmanageable, especially after she sleeps on it. Since she generally takes a bath at night, that makes for messy hair all day unless we wash it in the morning, so I figured it was time for a little trim! We went shopping this morning for a bit, then to Gymboree where we got to play with Merrigan, then to lunch at Daphne’s (Jordan’s favorite fast food restaurant) with Merrigan, Kim, and some friends we hadn’t seen since Level 2 (when they were 6-10 months old!). After that Jordan and Merrigan watched the water fountain:
Then Jordan walked into the corner of a metal table outside and got a nasty bump on her head, so we went back to Gymboree for some ice, then headed home. Jordan then started asking for a hair cut (I had told her yesterday that we would probably go today sometime) so we started driving there, and she fell asleep. I turned around and came home and put her in her crib for a nap, but about 20 min later I hear “Jordan get hair cut? All done nap. Get hair cut?” So I called over there, and they had room, and we went on over. She was so good! She sat in the little Porsche, and didn’t wiggle or cry or anything.

And at home- a better view of the new hairstyle:
It cost me $14 for them to just cut a couple strands of hair, but it’s worth it if I didn’t have to worry about stabbing her with the scissors here, and I got a cute new idea for a hairstyle!
Now if I can just do it here at home, we’ll be in business!
